Hossain Zillur RAHMAN

Chairperson, BRAC

Economist and social thinker, Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman is Chairperson, BRAC Governing Body and a leading policy voice in Bangladesh. He founded the Dhaka-based think-tank Power and Participation Research Centre (PPRC) and was an Advisor (cabinet minister) for education and commerce in the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh in 2008.  

Earlier he helped draft the poverty reduction strategy of the government of Bangladesh (2004) and was a member of the Independent South Asian Commission on Poverty Alleviation (2003-2006).  

He holds degrees in economics (Masters, Dhaka University, Bangladesh) and in political sociology (Ph.D, University of Manchester, UK).
