Jamyang Kinley Pema

Jamyang Kinley Pema was born in Thimphu, Bhutan. During her time at Motithang Higher Secondary School, she volunteered in youth and community initiatives and ranked first nationally in the Arts stream in Bhutan for high school.

Since joining the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law, she has continued balancing academics with service and advocacy work, particularly in areas related to youth empowerment, child rights, climate justice, and legal awareness. Academically, she has developed a strong interest in mooting and legal advocacy, and represented her law school and country in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious international law moot court competitions, where her team ranked among the Top 15 globally for the Respondent Memorials and among the Top 250 globally for Oral Submissions.

These experiences further deepened her interest in international law, and she hopes to one day work as an international lawyer specialising in private and public international law. She has also had the opportunity to work with various organisations and initiatives, including youth-led projects, United Nations programs, and international advocacy platforms.
