Susan Scott-Parker founded the first business disability network, now ‘BDF (UK)’, as well as Business Disability International. A Canadian based in the United Kingdom, she is Strategic Advisor to the ILO Global Business & Disability Network (ILO GBDN) and was Strategist and Content Architect of the Global Benchmark: the ILO GBDN Self-Assessment.
In 2003 she introduced the discourse of “Disability Confidence” – knowing that if we can change how we talk about the world, we make it easier to change the world. Her work aims to deliver practical, tangible mutual benefit for business, people with disabilities, the global economy, and wider society. She enables corporations and philanthropists to amplify the systemic impact of their investments in ways which create more efficient and fair labour markets worldwide.
She also founded Disability Ethical AI alongside Atos, IBM and the European Disability Forum, to address the serious risks to hundreds of millions triggered by AI powered HR Technologies.
She advised the Global Disability Summit Berlin 2025 on their business engagement strategy, where she launched her Business Disability Partnership Agenda with multi-stakeholder endorsement. She now co-chairs the ILOGBDN Asia Pacific regional network of National Business Disability Networks, and is pro bono advisor to ESCAP, the UN Economic & Social Commission, Asia & Pacific.
She has long-standing strategic alliances with the Australian business disability network; G3ICT; GIZ; the MyAbility Business Disability Network; Purple Space and The Zero Project. She was awarded her Order of the British Empire by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her Honorary Doctorate is from Bradford University.
