About

David Gallacher is a biodiversity specialist with 30 years of industry and academic experience. He has a comprehensive knowledge of natural systems and biodiversity across Asia, having worked on hundreds of sustainable designs, environmental planning, conservation, ecological monitoring, impact assessment and Nature-based solutions design projects throughout the region, partnering with a range of clients including government departments, private developers and multilateral banks such as Asian Development Bank. Recent high-profile projects in Hong Kong include the Tung Chung (East) New Town Eco-shoreline, Sam Po Shue Wetland Conservation Park Planning and Design, and development of the Hong Kong Nature-based Solutions Design Guidelines.

He is an active member of local Professional Institutes and is the current Chairman of the Hong Kong Institute of Environmental Impact Assessment. He also gives lectures, seminars and courses at academic institutes throughout the Asia Pacific Region.
