Wang Xiangwei is a veteran journalist with more than three decades of experience in media and communications. Widely recognised as one of Asia's foremost commentators on China and its global relations, he authors the influential China Briefing column in the South China Morning Post—Asia's leading English-language newspaper—which commands a devoted international readership.

Beginning August 2026, he will join the Harvard Kennedy School as a Senior Visiting Scholar for a one-year term. This follows his tenure at Hong Kong Baptist University, where he has served as an Associate Professor of Practice since January 2023, concluding his teaching there in August 2026. Previously, he spent 26 years at the South China Morning Post, rising through senior editorial roles to become Editor-in-Chief from 2012 to 2016.
